As a member of The Upper Austrian State Library once registered you receive a library card from us. With this card, you are assigned a user code that enables you to borrow books and publications and also to use the electronic services as well as a number of other services.
The library card is subject to a fee.
*Students, military service personnel or civil servants up to the age of 26 and staff employed by the council and county council are entitled to a discounted annual pass. For high-school students and apprentices up to the age of 19 membership is free.
You can register for your Library card in one of two ways: either with us at our office (at the reception-desk) or online via the registration form (German only). In both cases you will need a photo ID document and proof of your residential address (such as a household bill or a registration formula from your local council). If you are entitled to a discount, we need proof of your status (E.g. student ID, school attendance certificate). When applying in person you can pick up your card from the in-house-lending-desk once all payments have been received and cleared.
For online applications once payment* and your necessary identification documents have been received and checked we will send you your unique library card user code within 24 hours via E-mail. You are then entitled to order books or use our electronic services.
You can pick up the card itself on your next visit to the library. On request we can also send it to your registered address. For this service there is a administration fee of €1.00.
